January 3, 2023

The Harrison Public Library has permanently eliminated late fines. Approved unanimously by the Harrison Public Library Board of Trustees, this decision aligns with the Board’s commitment to Library services and access to information for all.

As part of the Library’s COVID-19 pandemic response, the Harrison Public Library has not charged late fines to any cardholder since March 2020. The permanent fine-free model started on January 1, 2023.

It’s important to note that patrons will still be responsible for returning items and paying for any lost or damaged materials.

This change is part of a growing industry-wide movement, guided by the recommendations of the American Library Association, to increase public access to library services.
