Return of the Ancients

Digital Art and Transformation by Gregory Bart

This painting was created after several smaller works in which I experimented in creating jewel-like objects using the various tools in Photoshop.

The title for this piece is particularly suggestive. The plural of “Ancients” is intended to imply that this central elephant figure represents more than we can see. I interpret the elephant to be a herald of a greater pantheon of beings who are immanent and felt yet unseen, perhaps suggested by the mysterious and luminous horizon.
