Borrowing Materials
Patrons must present a valid library card, a government-issued photo ID, or school ID to borrow library materials.
Overdue Fines
The Harrison Public Library has permanently eliminated late fines. It’s important to note that patrons will still be responsible for returning items and paying for any lost or damaged materials.

Renewals
Items checked out from the Halperin Building and West Harrison Branch will renew automatically if they are eligible for renewal 3 days before they are due. If your account is set to receive email notifications you will receive a notice when items are renewed. To change how you receive notifications call the Library (914) 835-0324 or login to your account.
Items are eligible for renewal if:
- they have not been renewed before
- they are not being requested by other patrons
- they are not express items (example of express items: 7-day books and 3-day DVDs)
You may also renew items:
- in-person at the Library
- by calling the Halperin Building (914) 835-0324 or West Harrison Branch (914) 948-2092
- by logging in to your account
- by calling the automated voice system at (914) 674-4169
Returns
Items may be returned to the library book drops 24/7.
Lost Materials
The Library charges patrons a fee for a lost item. An item is considered lost when a patron reports the item lost or when the item is more than 30 days overdue. The fee for a lost item is the original retail price of the item as recorded in the Library’s circulation system.
If a lost CD is part of an audio book set the patron is charged $8.00 for the lost CD. The Library will charge $5.00 for a lost Kit bag.
Requesting Materials
With your Harrison Public Library card you can request items from any library in Westchester County and pick them up at the Harrison Public Library.
You can search for items in the catalog. You can also call the library (914-835-0324, 914-948-2092) or ask a librarian.
If a book isn’t available from any member library of the Westchester Library System the library may be able to request it from another library system (limited to three pending requests at a time). Requests can be made at the Adult Reference Desk, by calling (914) 835-0324, or online. Books from another library system have a four-week loan period with no renewals, and overdue fines are $2.00 per day. For more details, visit: https://www.westchesterlibraries.org/ill-services/.
