The Halperin Building is Reopening!
We are so excited to welcome you back to our buildings. As of Monday, September 14th the Halperin Building will be open by appointment for browsing and use of public computers. In order to meet NYS requirements during the COVID-19 health crisis, the Library has made adjustments to hours of operation, visits, services, and policies.
We planned to open the West Harrison Branch, however due to flooding issues the Branch will remain closed until further notice and will be unable to accept returns or offer curbside pickup until further notice.

Patrons over the age of two must wear a face mask at all times. Individuals who do not follow the rules will not be permitted into the building per Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order.
APPOINTMENTS & CURBSIDE PICKUP
Patrons need to make a 45-minute appointment to visit the library and to use a public computer. This can be done either online or by calling the library – Halperin Building at (914) 835-0324, West Harrison Branch at (914) 948-0292.
20 patrons can be scheduled in the Halperin Building at one time; 10 patrons can be scheduled in the West Harrison Branch at one time.
Staff is available for contactless reference and checkout service.
In addition to making an appointment, patrons must complete a questionnaire issued by the Town/Village of Harrison for the purpose of contact tracing. The questionnaire must be filled out online when scheduling an appointment. A paper version can be completed at the door before entering for patrons who schedule appointments over the phone.
COMPUTERS, PRINTING, COPYING, SCANNING, & WI-FI
Four public computers are available at the Halperin Building; one public computer is available at the West Harrison Branch.
We are offering one computer reservation per day per person. In-person computer assistance is not available. Online one-on-one help is available on Tuesdays at 3 pm- sign up is required.
Printing, copying & scanning machines are available. Staff is not available to provide assistance. If you are scanning, please bring a flash drive. Please bring change for copies and printing.
Wi-Fi is available at the Halperin Building in the Reading Garden and the library parking lot.
When browsing the library, please place anything you have handled on one of the labeled book carts. These items will be quarantined.
BOOK DROPS, RETURNS & FORGIVING FINES
Starting Monday, September 14th, book drops will be open 24/7. Please return all library materials to the outside book drop only. In-library returns cannot be accepted.
When materials are returned, they are first quarantined, so items will remain on your account for some time. Don’t worry! We are not charging late fees at this time. If your items are still on your account after 14 days, give us a call and we will look into it.
ONLINE & OUTDOOR PROGRAMMING
There are no in-person programs in the buildings at this time. We will continue offering online programming for all ages. We may schedule some outdoor programs, weather permitting.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN VISITING THE LIBRARY
Please keep in mind there is no seating available, except for at the public computers.
The following areas of the library are not open to the public: Study Rooms, Community Room, Teen Lounge, and study carrels.
Newspapers are not available.
There are no computers or toys in the Children’s Room.
Water fountains are not available.
Restroom use is limited to patrons inside the library.
Please, wear a mask, wash or sanitize your hands often and keep a 6 ft distance. If you have symptoms or may have been exposed to COVID-19, please stay home. Let’s keep Harrison safe!
