Description

Rev. R. W. Harris was Rector of the Grace [Episcopal] Church, White Plains New York. Jane Gaul was born Jane Halstead; her stepfather was David Gaul, a founding member of The Hills community; more often she gave her name as Jane Halstead. She married Harvey Seymour of The Hills on Feb. 25, 1835 in Grace Church, White Plains, NY. A copy of their marriage record was submitted to the Pension Board in support of Jane’s Application for a mother’s pension on the death of their son William Henry Seymour who served in the 14th Rhode Island Heavy Artillery Regiment (11th USCT), returned to The Hills after the war, and died of dysentery in March 1866.
