Harrison Public Library Seeks Trustee
(Harrison, NY) The Harrison Public Library is seeking applicants to fill an upcoming vacancy on its Board of Trustees. The board sets policy and direction for the library and oversees its operation through the library director.
“We’re looking for someone who shares our passion for libraries,” says Board President Shauna Long. “Someone who’s eager to use their talents and skills to help make our own library even better.”
According to Long, the board meets one evening a month, usually at the Halperin Building at 2 Bruce Avenue. Typical meetings include a review of the library’s finances, updates on programs and developments, and discussions of plans for the future.
Both the downtown library and the West Harrison branch are governed by the Board of Trustees. The trustees are unpaid volunteers.
The open position on the board is for a five-year term that begins January 1, 2020. Applicant must be a resident of Harrison, West Harrison, or Purchase.
Applicants are asked to email a resume and a brief cover letter describing their interest in serving on the board to HarrisonNYlibrarytrustees@gmail.com.
