BOOK CLUB | ESL
I'm sorry if you missed it, but this event already took place.
Join this informal, but informative, book club from wherever you are located. We will be starting a new book on Wednesday, January 19, and meeting weekly on Wednesdays. The book that has been chosen is Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi.
About the Book
If you could go back, who would you want to meet? In a small back alley of Tokyo, there is a café that has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than one hundred years. Local legend says that this shop offers something else besides coffee—the chance to travel back in time. Over the course of one summer, four customers visit the café in the hopes of making that journey. But time travel isn’t so simple, and there are rules that must be followed. Most important, the trip can last only as long as it takes for the coffee to get cold. Heartwarming, wistful, mysterious and delightfully quirky, Toshikazu Kawaguchi’s internationally bestselling novel explores the age-old question: What would you change if you could travel back in time?
The ESL Book Club is designed for non-English speakers who would like to improve their English vocabulary, comprehension, and reading skills. We read and discuss several pages of the selected book each week. By the end of our read, you will have an extensive list of vocubulary words and definitions for future reference.
Copies of Before the Coffee Gets Cold are available for pick up at the library and you can also download an eBook or eAudiobook on Hoopla and OverDrive with your Westchester Library System library card.
New members are always welcome to join the discussion.
Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
