I'm sorry if you missed it, but this event already took place.

Come to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Capoeira Luanda! Live in the Village Green Park in West Harrison.

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that was created by African peoples in Brazil roughly 500 years ago. Part dance, part fight, part acrobatics, combines elements of numerous African cultures into a beautiful expression of art.

Today, capoeira is recognized as a “performance art” and is played as a game. Often characterized by its deceptive kicks, sweeps, trip-em-ups, head butts, elbow and knee strikes, capoeira, while physically demanding, is much more than physical activity. When playing capoeira, one’s wits and creativity are just as important as one’s physical abilities.

Join Instructor Coruja of Capoeira Luanda New Rochelle in an interactive workshop to know about the history, music, and movements of this beautiful art.

Bring your lawn chair or picnic blanket to enjoy the performance. Adults and children are welcome to join a mini class in the park. Wear comfortable clothing.
