In the summer of 2007, Westchester Library System started the Digital Collection powered by OverDrive for all Westchester residents. Many e-books and audiobooks have been added to the collection since then. Last April, with the help of a grant from New York State, we joined theOverDrive Advantage plan. This plan offers many more titles exclusively for our patrons in addition to what Westchester Library System has.

The latest titles of popular authors such as James Patterson, John Grisham, David Baldacci, Lee Child, Janet Evanovich, Nora Roberts (J.D. Robb), Nicholas Sparks, Danielle Steel, Dean Koontz, George R. R. Martin, and many more have been added to the Overdrive Advantage collection.

In addition to the works of the above authors, you may also find in the OverDrive Advantage the National Book Award finalist The Tiger’s Wife by Téa Obreht, the 2011 Man Booker award winner The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes, one of the 2011 best historical fictions Caleb’s Crossing by Geraldine Brooks, and the international best seller Please Look After Momby Kyung-Sook Shin.

Among the titles of the OverDrive Advantage, there are also the best selling non-fictions and biographies such as Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, In the Garden of Beasts by Eric Larson, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, and Bossypants by Tina Fey.

E-books and audiobooks for children and young adults are included in the OverDrive Advantage too. There are e-books from children’s series The Magic Tree House, Judy Moody, Encyclopedia Brown, and from Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series for teenagers. Audiobooks such as The Hunger Games and Catching Fire for young adults are also available. High school students may find the College guides and AP test prepare series “5 steps to a 5” on the Advantage.

So Harrison patrons, please remember to take the advantage of the OverDrive Advantage plan. You may download the above titles and many more onto many devices and in e-book or audiobook format. Whether you have a computer, a laptop, tablet, iPhone, iPod, blackberry, Nook, Kindle, Sony e-reader or other devices, you will be able to read and/or listen to a book. You are even permitted to burn some of the MP3 or WMA aduiobooks to CDs. All you need is your library card and Internet in order to access our digital collection – the OverDrive Advantage.
