After the kids (and you!) have played with your new gizmos and gadgets and are looking for something else to do during school vacation come to the library and get crafty! The library has shelves of books dedicated to crafts, magic, cooking, baking, science experiments, drawing and other hands-on activities.

Need some stationery for writing thank you notes for that wonderful Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa gift you received? Make some beautiful and unique marble paper using only two ingredients and directions fromThe Crafty Art Book. Or perhaps you’ve always wanted to learn how to knit and never had the time? The Crafty Art Book has very clear illustrated directions and even shows you how to knit a simple (but adorable!) teddy bear.

Maybe learning how to change water into milk or conjuring up a colorful ribbon from thin air is more up your alley? Simple Magic can help with that.

In case you haven’t stuffed yourself on holiday goodies yet, make a fun Jello aquarium from The Secret Life of Food or a bird birthday cake for your avian friends.
